Stansted Coach House - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. What is Stansted Coach House? 

Stansted Coach House is a Serviced Apartment Hotel. This type of hotel accommodation is very similar to a usual hotel but has some differences which, we believe, make it a better option. It can be booked on a night-by-night basis, with a minimum stay of just 1 night, features kitchen facilities and a maid service. Stansted Coach House is significantly larger than the average hotel room and has separate areas for eating, sleeping and working. Stansted Coach House is only 4 years old and so is in immaculate condition, beautifully decorated and equipped with all modern amenities. Just as you would at a standard hotel, you just need to bring your suitcase. Everything you could need in the apartment is already provided. 2. Why book directly?

We apply our cheapest prices to our own website and ensure that, where within our control, our prices are cheaper than booking intermediary websites. When booking direct we do not require any initial payment (unless you are arriving within the following 5 days). After you have made your reservation you will receive an email confirmation and an invoice specifying when payment of the balance is required. For refundable reservations the balance is required to be paid at least 5 days prior to your arrival. For non-refundable reservations the balance is required to be paid immediately upon receipt of the invoice. We will always beat any prices that any intermediary site may advertise when they run any special offers. We offer a fully fuss-free cancellation policy whereby all refundable reservations can be cancelled completely free of charge provided they are cancelled at least 5 days before arrival. 

2. What kitchen facilities are there?

Stansted Coach House has a well equipped kitchen with mini oven, grill, 2 hob plates, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster, plates, cutlery, glasses, cups, dining table & 4 chairs (an additional baby high chair is available upon request), pots & pans, cooking utensils, sink and washing-up facilities.

3. Is there internet access?

Free very high speed internet is included (350MB+). The wi-fi code is provided inside the apartment.

4. Is there a TV?

We have a 55 inch high definition TV with complimentary Sky satellite tv, including Sky Sports, Netflix etc. This provides hundreds of TV & radio channels.

5. What bathroom facilities are there?

The new, modern bathroom is of a good size. It has a sink, toilet, vanity cupboard with mirror and a large double sized shower cubicle with powerful shower. Toilet rolls, towels, shower gel & shampoo are all provided.

6. Are there any house rules?

Stansted Coach House is a single, self contained private apartment where you are left alone and, unlike a hotel, you will not encounter any other guests. All we ask are the following:

  • The maximum number of guests are 4 (plus 1 baby of up to 2 years of age if using a travel cot). This occupancy policy is for Insurance, safety & comfort reasons and is very strictly enforced 

  • Only the reserved guests are permitted at the property. No other guests are permitted to attend the property for any duration.

  • No parties, gatherings or events of any description are permitted

  • Any accidents to be reported to your hosts immediately so that any damage can be addressed and mitigated

  • Window safety latches must NOT be deactivated whenever children are present in the apartment

  • Windows and doors are kept closed (and door locked) whenever the apartment is unoccupied

  • Smoking is strictly NOT permitted anywhere in the apartment or garden, including e-cigarettes and including no smoking outside of the windows or doors. 

  • At least 1 guest must be at least 25 years of age.

  • Please do not wear outdoor shoes inside of the apartment (particularly on carpeted areas). We take great care to keep the apartment looking immaculate for all of our guests so we appreciate all of our guests helping to maintain the high standards of cleanliness.

  • Please don’t flush anything other than toilet paper down the toilet.

  • A refundable damage deposit of £100 is required to be paid at check in. Provided that there is no smoking or unreasonable damage to the apartment, this is refunded.

7. What Covid-19 precautions are in place?

We take the Covid situation very seriously and ensure that the apartment is deeply cleaned and sanitised after every stay. The check in and check out process is contact free and you will not encounter any other guests as we offer only 1 apartment for your sole private use. We will leave you undisturbed unless you request for us to service your room or request anything else from us.

8. Can I have a takeaway delivered?

Of course. If you decide not to use the cooking facilities in the apartment's well equipped kitchen, there are many local takeaways that offer delivery. And there are plates and cutlery provided in the apartment. All we would ask is that you specify to the delivery company that the delivery be made to the Coach House apartment to the rear of the main house so that deliveries are made directly to you and not to the main house so we can avoid the doorbell waking our young children. There are also numerous restaurants, pubs and coffee shops that we can recommend.

9. What is the check-in process?

Contact us in advance to confirm your expected arrival time. We live adjacent to the apartment and will either be home to provide the key or we will confirm to you that the key will be left in a key safe and the code and instructions will be given to you on the day of check-in.  

10. What time is check in?

Check in from 2pm onwards. There is no limit as to how late you may check in. If necessary, the key will be left in a locked key safe and the code and instructions will be provided to you on the day of check in. However, please do contact us to make arrangements to collect the key and complete the pre check-in process.

11. What time is check out? 

Check out is by 11am to enable us to prepare the apartment for the next guests.

12. Can I park my car?

Free parking is available for the duration of your stay only. We do not offer parking for longer than your stay however there are many local providers that offer long term parking at very reasonable rates and certainly cheaper than airport parking prices. Please contact us for details. We know that people consider parking in local streets when going on holiday. We strongly advise against that as we know that local villages oppose fly parking and have heard of cars being damaged in local villages. Don't take the risk and either book secure parking or contact us for details of our parking partner.

13. Where can I get the best prices for Stansted Coach House?

A lot of bookings are made through intermediary sites such as booking.com and AirB&B however, when you book direct with us at www.stanstedcoachhouse.com we can ensure that we always provide the best prices and we are able to deal directly with you (rather than having to go through an intermediary).

14. Do you offer discounts for longer term bookings?

Usually we can offer a discount for a longer term booking. Please contact us directly to discuss options.

15. How far is Stansted Airport?

Stansted Airport is 4 miles away (8 minute drive). Contact us if you require any transport options (taxi, train, bus etc). The bus takes 10 minutes to/from Stansted Airport and costs just £2 (at time of writing this). We are also just a 8 minute walk from Elsenham train station which goes to London, Cambridge, Birmingham, Stansted and connects to multiple other destinations. 

16. What is there to do nearby? 

There is a huge amount to do locally. We have put together a Guest Information Pack which is kept in the apartment and gives lots of recommendations for activities, restaurants, walks, pubs, shops, kids days out, museums, sports, live music etc. We can email this over in advance upon request.

17. Are pets allowed?

Sorry, Stansted Coach House is a pet-free apartment.

18. Is there any food & drink at the apartment?

We provide complimentary tea & coffee, including Nespresso pods. We also have a minibar that provides a range of snacks & drinks. The price list is inside the apartment so please help yourself and payment can be made at check out by cash or credit card.

19. Are there any nearby shops?

There is a Tesco Express supermarket 5 minutes walk away. Adjacent to this is a fish & chip shop and a post office. The local pub (The Crown Inn) is a further 2 minute walk past Tesco Express. Stansted village is a 3 minute drive and has a larger range of shops. Bishop's Stortford is a 7 minute drive and has a much larger range of shops.

20. Can I charge my electric vehicle?

Yes, we have an EV charging point at the property. Please contact us for details.

21. Is there heating?

Yes, the temperature in the apartment is very easy to operate via the brand new heating system.

22. How many beds are there? 

There is are 2 king size beds. We can also provide a travel cot for children 2 and under. All bed linen, sheets, duvets, pillows are provided.

23. Is there a hairdryer?

Yes, a complimentary hairdryer is available inside the apartment.

24. What is the cancellation policy? 

For refundable bookings, cancellation is completely free provided you confirm to us in writing (email is fine) at least 5 days prior to the date of your reservation. If you have pre-paid for your reservation, we will immediately issue a refund to you upon receipt of your cancellation notice. Any payments made to us (whether it is a deposit or the full balance) are fully refundable under our cancellation policy. There is an option for non-refundable bookings which offer a lower price. These bookings cannot be refunded. 

25. Are there any hidden extras?

We operate a fully transparent and simple process to stay at Stansted Coach House. The only additional requirement that we ask of guests is to agree to our reservation terms and conditions and we require a hold for a refundable damage deposit of £100 to be put on a credit card (or we take cash) prior to obtaining the apartment key. This simply requires guests to agree not to cause any unreasonable damage to the apartment or to smoke in the apartment. At check-out, provided that there is no evidence of damage or smoking at the apartment, the deposit will be fully refunded. 

26. Do I need to bring towels? 

No! You don't need to bring anything The apartment contains everything you could possibly need, and more! Everything you will find in a hotel is here and included, with the added extra benefit of a kitchen, Sky TV, Netflix and all of teh added comforts, extras and high quality customer service we provide.

27. Is there a train station nearby?

Yes. The nearest train station is Elsenham Station and is less than a ten minute walk from Stansted Coach House. Trains from Elsenham go towards London or towards Cambridge. A train to London takes 40 minutes. A train to Cambridge takes 30 minutes. There are also multiple train station stops of interest in between. Audley End House and Gardens can be easily reached by train or by taxi. A train to Audley End station takes just 8 minutes. There is also a bus stop just 5 minutes walk away. The bus goes to Stansted Airport and Bishop's Stortford. A bus fare costs approximately £2 per person.
